Puragen Activated Carbons provides one of the most diverse lines of activated carbon solutions backed by expert technical support and knowledgeable customer service. Puragen Activated Carbons began marketing and distributing activated carbon products over 15 years ago through its European-based supply chain, Oxbow Carbonplus, situated near the famous business district of La Defense France. In July 2014, Oxbow Carbon LLC purchased Carbon Resources LLC, adding a large and diversified distribution network to the core talent of this activated carbon business. Carbon Resources LLC was originally founded in 1997 by two enterprising veterans in the activated carbon industry. Their proactive, individualized approach to customer support and supply provided the backbone for Oxbow Activated Carbon’s business model today. Carbon Resources LLC formally changed its name to Oxbow Activated Carbon in February 2015. On November 25, 2019, Oxbow Activated Carbon changed its name to Puragen Activated Carbons having been acquired by a European investor group with over 15 years’ experience investing in activated carbon businesses.

Puragen’s scale, expertise, and leading market positions have allowed it to create a powerful global sourcing platform with superior market intelligence and longstanding relationships with many of its key customers. The plan is to continue to build the business over the longer term, creating a world-class specialty activated carbon production and R&D platform, both in the US and internationally, enhancing our innovative technical capabilities and service for you our valued customers.

Company management has sat on several boards such as AWWA, PWQA, and NSF Activated Carbon, and most importantly, Chair the ASTM D-28 committee that governs testing protocols world-wide for activated carbon manufacturers.
